1. Care with Inge Vervotte: 'What's wrong with a defect?'
In the first episode of 'mensenmaat', Luc talks to Inge Vervotte, chairman of the Emmaüs care group, about small and large health. Do we sometimes lose sight of the human aspect due to the drive for progress? And shouldn't we strive for more quality of life instead of quantity?
2. Health with Marc Noppen: 'How do we ensure that the hospitals are as empty as possible?'
In the second episode of 'mensenmaat', Marc Noppen, CEO of UZ Brussels, joins us at the table. From their positions, they look at the commercial logic behind current healthcare, where the focus is on as much volume as possible with as few hands as possible. Shouldn't we focus much more on prevention? And how much should a quality life cost?
3. Politics with Bart De Wever: 'The least attractive side of politics? The other politicians.'
In the third episode of 'mensenmaat', Luc Van Gorp welcomes Antwerp mayor and N-VA chairman Bart De Wever to the studio to talk about neoliberal society and political leadership. Has politics really lost its connection with the citizen, or is this mainly what the (social) media makes it seem? And as a politician, can you really know what is going on in your community?
4. Climate with Ignace Schops: 'Climate change is odorless and colorless.'
In the fourth episode of 'mensenmaat' Luc Van Gorp speaks with Ignace Schops, director of the Kempen and Maasland Regional Agency and president of Europarc Federation. They look at our society and the finite nature of our planet from a shared concern. But there is also hope, a transition shift is slowly but surely noticeable. Can we overcome our resistance to tackle things differently and in solidarity?
5. Education with Lieven Boeve: 'You don't learn with an overcrowded program.'
In the fifth episode of 'mensenmaat', Luc Van Gorp welcomes Lieven Boeve, CEO of Catholic Education, to the studio. The new final objectives are of course discussed, but also the impact of the corona crisis on the education model and the preconditions for an education reform. Should education prepare for real life or is education already real life?
6. Church with Sister Jeanne Devos: 'To the convent without proof of good behavior.'
In the sixth episode of 'mensenmaat' a large lady joins us at the table. At the age of 86, Sister Jeanne Devos is still actively committed to the rights of the less fortunate in India. Although both have a Catholic background, Luc and Jeanne note that the institution of the church has lost touch with what is going on at the grassroots. However, the need for meaning and connection has never been greater.
7. Culture with Michaël De Cock: 'We must learn to cherish the useless more.'
In the seventh and final episode of ' Mensenmaat ' Luc Van Gorp visits Michaël De Cock. As artistic director of the KVS in Brussels, he has felt the impact of the corona crisis on the cultural sector from the front row. Both are convinced that culture can be the driving force behind a transformation. What exactly needs to change to give culture the place it deserves in our society?
