Oncofreezing
With oncofreezing, eggs, sperm or ovarian tissue are frozen. Thanks to oncofreezing, cancer patients can still see their wish to have children come true after treatment.
The collection and freezing will be fully reimbursed if this takes place in a hospital that has an agreement with the Riziv. A hospital with this agreement may not charge supplements.
If the fertility material still needs to be stored after ten years, the hospital may charge the patient a maximum of 50 euros per year.
What are the conditions?
- The collection of eggs or ovarian tissue is done before the 38th birthday. Sperm is collected for the 45th birthday.
- The collection and freezing takes place in a hospital that has an agreement with the Riziv.
