Caregivers for chronically ill children
Does your child have a disability or chronic condition? Need a break or to go somewhere? Expert volunteers are available to provide care at home, day, evening, and night.
CM offers caregivers for 3.57 euros per hour. This is the rate set by the Flemish Agency for Care and Health .
What does the caregiver do?
The caregiver:
- keeps your child company and provides supervision in the home;
- helps with small movements in and around the home;
- takes on small tasks such as heating meals and assisting with eating and using the toilet;
- supervises other children in the family if necessary;
- In the event of an emergency, notify the family, GP or emergency services.
What does the caregiver not do?
The caregiver:
- does not do housework or provide nursing care.
- may not administer medication;
Request the caregiver
Request the caregiver at the Zorglijn at least ten working days in advance. This can be done by telephone or email. You can also contact the Zorglijn for more information.

The offer depends on the availability of the volunteers. You will receive an answer to your question by telephone or email.
What are the conditions?
Your child:
- is younger than 19 years;
- has a disability or chronic condition;
- has a youth care decision for PAB, MFC or aids (IMB);
- or is entitled to increased child benefit;
- or you can provide a medical or social report.

When you first register, you'll receive an appointment note . This will outline the appointments and how we work.
Do you have a complaint?
Contact your contact person at CM or let us know via www.cm.be/klachten . We'll provide an initial response within seven days. Your complaint will be fully processed within thirty days.
Approved service
The "Care for Children with a Disability or Chronic Illness" service is recognized and subsidized by the Flemish government under the Residential Care Decree. It operates according to the principles of integrated quality care.
