Can I file an online declaration for a deceased family member?

No, it is not possible to file an online tax return for a deceased family member. In this case, you provide the hospital invoice and the completed and signed declaration form to CM Insurance. This can be done viaverzekeringen@cm.be or via a CM mailbox.

Can I file an online tax return for a parent, partner, child, etc.?

From your CM profile you can only file an online tax return for yourself and any dependents under the age of 18. Every person over the age of 18 must create a CM profile themselves and file a tax return in their own name.

Will I receive my refund faster if I file a tax return online?

Since CM Insurance receives your online declaration immediately, the processing time for an online declaration is shorter than that of a paper declaration.

Why do I have to report every accident to CM?

In the event of an accident with injuries and a potentially liable third party, you must inform CM as soon as possible. Why? CM will then initiate a 'subrogation action' in which we recover the medical costs incurred by the CM from the liable party. These costs are often much higher than your own personal share. Why is that important? It protects our social security against unnecessary expenditure, because the responsible party pays (and not social security, to which everyone contributes). Is there no liable third party? CM will then cover the costs.

Is there a digital ISI+ card?

Certainly. From 25 June 2025, isi+ cards will only be available digitally. This means that no new physical cards will be issued. New isi+ cards will only be available in My CM, the My CM app or in the MyGov app of the Belgian federal government. Existing cards will remain valid until the expiry date stated on the card. For isi+ cards of children, it is also possible for both parents to save the card in their MyGov app. This way, both parents have the card in their pocket and you avoid situations where the card is still in the wallet of the one parent who is not at the hospital or the pharmacy. The app can also be a practical solution for parents who do not live together. A condition for consulting your child's isi+ card in the MyGov app is that you are the parent of the child and that you have a Belgian national register number.
